1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Schlr website and study platform (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Schlr (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
If you are between 13 and 18 years old, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service and agree to these Terms.
We reserve the right to terminate access for any user who misrepresents their age or eligibility.
3. Accounts
When you create an account with Schlr, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- Keep your account credentials secure and not share them with any third party.
- Notify us immediately at support@schlr.dev if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are inactive for an extended period, or are flagged for fraudulent activity.
4. Free and Pro Tiers
Free Tier:
- 1 subject notebook.
- 50 AI interactions per month.
- Up to 5 files per upload.
- Access to notes, flashcards, practice tests, and chat.
- PPTX, PDF, and DOCX support.
- No credit card required.
Pro Tier:
- Unlimited subject notebooks.
- Unlimited AI interactions.
- Up to 25 files per upload.
- Zip bulk upload.
- All Free tier features, amplified.
- A$10.00 AUD per month for the first 3 months as a founding-rate offer, then A$15.00 AUD per month, billed monthly.
- A$12.00 AUD per month, billed annually (A$144.00 AUD per year).
An AI interaction is defined as a single generation request or chat message sent to the Schlr AI. This includes note generation, flashcard generation, practice test generation, and individual chat messages to the AI tutor.
We reserve the right to modify tier features and pricing at any time. Existing subscribers will be notified of any material changes at least 30 days in advance.
5. Payments and Refunds
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.
Billing:
- Monthly subscriptions are billed every 30 days from the date of purchase.
- Annual subscriptions are billed upfront for 12 months at the time of purchase.
- All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and inclusive of applicable taxes.
Cancellations:
- You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account settings.
- Upon cancellation of a monthly subscription, you retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing cycle.
- Upon cancellation of an annual subscription, you retain access to Pro features for the remainder of your paid annual term.
Refunds:
- All purchases are final. We do not offer refunds for any subscription, whether monthly or annual.
- If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at support@schlr.dev within 7 days of the charge and we will investigate.
6. Acceptable Use
By using the Service, you agree not to:
- Upload content that you do not have the right to use, share, or process.
- Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, offensive, or harmful.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, exploit, or circumvent the AI or any system underlying the Service.
- Use the Service to generate content intended to deceive, defraud, or mislead others.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially distribute AI-generated output from the Service without our prior written consent.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Service in a way that disrupts normal operation.
- Violate any applicable law or regulation in your use of the Service.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate access for any user found to be in breach of this section, without notice and without refund.
7. User Content and Copyright
When you upload files to Schlr, you confirm that:
- You own the content, or have explicit permission from the copyright holder to upload and process it.
- Your use of the content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.
- You accept full responsibility for any copyright infringement arising from content you upload.
Schlr is a platform and is not responsible for content uploaded by users. We will respond to valid copyright takedown notices submitted to support@schlr.dev.
We do not claim ownership over any content you upload to the Service. Your uploaded files remain your own.
8. Ownership of Generated Content
Notes, flashcards, practice tests, and other content generated by Schlr on the basis of your uploads belong to you. We do not claim any ownership over your generated study materials.
You are free to download, export, and use your generated content for personal study purposes. You may not resell or commercially distribute generated content without our prior written consent.
Schlr retains the right to use anonymised, aggregated, non-identifiable data derived from platform usage to improve and develop the Service. This will never include your personal information or the identifiable content of your uploads.
9. Schlr Intellectual Property
The Schlr name, logo, website design, software, and all associated materials are the intellectual property of Schlr and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of the Service or its branding without our prior written consent.
10. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Schlr uses artificial intelligence to generate notes, flashcards, and practice tests from your uploaded content. While we aim for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content should not be solely relied upon for academic assessments, exams, or any purpose where accuracy is critical.
- Schlr does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated content.
- You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any generated content before relying on it.
Schlr is a study aid, not a substitute for attending lectures, reading source material, or consulting qualified academic staff.
11. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described there.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms or if we believe your use poses a risk to the Service, other users, or third parties.
Upon termination of your account, your uploaded content and generated materials will be deleted within 30 days, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Schlr and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to Schlr in the 12 months preceding the claim, or A$10.00 AUD if you are a free user.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Schlr and its operators harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights including intellectual property rights.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the last updated date at the top of this document. For material changes, we will notify users by email where practicable.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
